Experts at a seminar on ‘Natural Gas Crisis’ urged the textile sector to opt Synthetic Natural Gas (SNG) technology as an alternative energy source to sustain their productions without troubles. The seminar was organised by Towel Manufactures Association (TMA) of Pakistan at TMA House here on Wednesday.

In his presentation, CEO of Korean Gas Engineering, Do Yeon Kang, highlighted the significance of SNG as alternative to Natural Gas in Pakistan. He said that his company was providing technical assistance to the Pakistani companies in the installation of SNG plants. Kang said that SNG technology was being used world-wide including Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Middle East, USA and other countries.

Emran Jamali of Dynamic Group of Companies gave a presentation on “SNG the Ultimate Quick Solution” to counter natural gas crisis. He said that the SNG technology was a permanent solution to cater the Natural Gas seasonal shutdowns in industries and avoiding setback to the economy.

He said that his company had installed very first SNG/LPG project in Gwadar for the state-owned Sui Southern Gas Company Ltd in the year of 2006; followed by others in Noshki, Mirpurkhas, and Surab as town gas on turnkey basis in remote areas where the supply of natural gas is still a dream. Emran said that SNG/LPG could play a major role for quick fix of the Natural Gas shortage and LPG could be utilised as bridge fuel until the time the natural gas could be made available through cross-country pipelines. “We are the pioneer in introducing the concept of LPG Auto Refuelling Station and did their first ever project in Sialkot; followed by the state-of-the-art Autogas Station at main Sharah-e-Faisal in Karachi, and others,” Emran Jamali said.

Shoaib Warsi, SGM (T) at Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), said that the gas utility was striving hard to facilitate it industrial consumers. He said that new gas discoveries had been made in the country and 1.2 BCF Natural Gas would be added to the system by the end of December 2013.

“SNG is good option as substitute to Natural Gas, industry can maintain its production by using LPG Air-Mix technology (SNG),” he added. Acting Chairman TMA Omer Anwar Lari also spoke. Aminullah Khan SGM(D) South of SSGC, Shakil Ahmed Bokhari GM (Measurement) SSGC and Nosheen Javed of Dynamic Group of Companies were also present.
